Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Arusha. Briefing about the cultural tour and relaxing in the city. Optional: Visit the Maasai Market for local crafts and souvenirs.

Day 2: Arusha – Mto wa Mbu Cultural Experience

Travel to Mto wa Mbu village, a melting pot of Tanzania's diverse tribes. Activities: Walking tour of the village, visit local farms, and meet various ethnic groups like the Chagga, Maasai, and Iraqw. Learn about banana beer brewing and traditional food preparation. Enjoy a local lunch prepared by villagers. Overnight in Mto wa Mbu or nearby.

Day 3: Karatu and Iraqw Tribe

Drive to Karatu, home to the Iraqw tribe. Activities: Learn about the Iraqw's unique mud homes and their traditional farming methods. Engage with local artisans and hear about their history. Visit a local market to see daily life. Overnight stay in Karatu.

Day 4: Lake Eyasi – Hadzabe and Datoga Tribes

Head to Lake Eyasi to meet the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. Activities: Join the Hadzabe, one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes, for a traditional hunt or nature walk. Learn about their survival skills and ancient traditions. Later, visit the Datoga blacksmiths and watch them craft tools using age-old techniques. Return to Karatu for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Maasai Cultural Experience in Ngorongoro

Travel to the Ngorongoro Highlands and visit a Maasai village. Activities: Engage with the Maasai community to learn about their nomadic lifestyle, cattle herding, traditional dances, and ceremonial practices. Visit a Maasai boma (homestead) and hear stories of their rich culture. Visit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and enjoy the stunning landscape. Overnight stay near Ngorongoro.

Day 6: Tengeru Village – Coffee and Craft Experience

Return to Arusha and visit Tengeru village, located on the slopes of Mount Meru. Activities: Tour a coffee plantation, learn about coffee growing and processing, and taste locally produced coffee. Engage in cultural activities like basket weaving and pottery. Enjoy lunch prepared by a local family. Overnight stay in Arusha.

Day 7: Departure

Depending on your flight time, visit the Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre or shop for last-minute souvenirs. Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for departure.
